Problem statement

Bring planning data together for faster decisions and clear supplier volume-allocation options. Today: • Speed of making quality decisions when coordinating between departments to gather information and data. Teams usually need to coordinate between team members to source data and align/get input for the analysis on a topic to make the final decision, which is often slower and more reactive than needed. Dashboards and reports have been tried to enhance process visibility, but they are mostly descriptive analysis with limited recommendations; speed has improved but much coordination is still needed to reach a final decision. • Disconnected systems and manual reconciliation add friction to planning. Simplify information flow and decision preparation while retaining planner accountability. • Supplier assessment and volume allocation require balancing cost, quality, service, capacity and risk across fragmented data sources. Periodic reviews can be time-consuming and may not consistently expose trade-offs or sensitivity to changing conditions. This can raise material cost, supply risk and decision-cycle time. The challenge is to assess and allocate volumes transparently while preserving procurement governance, quality requirements and supply resilience.

Expected outcomes and success metrics

• A more predictive and proactive supply chain that mitigates disruption and improves forecasting, enhancing service level and reducing cost. • Business impact: reduce decision-making time every day. • Reduce manual consolidation and repetitive planning effort. Improve schedule quality, responsiveness and decision consistency. Expose exceptions and trade-offs faster. Optimize inventory, capacity, manpower and materials. Support service level and workflow productivity. • Connect planning-to-produce activities and manage exceptions. Aim for AI support for most assistant tasks, potentially across all factories. Measure planning time, schedule adherence, manual hours and service. Baselines and targets to be confirmed. • Reduce material cost and assessment effort. Improve supplier-performance visibility and allocation consistency. Enable faster scenario comparison and sourcing decisions. Optimize volume allocation across cost, quality, service, risk and capacity. Support supply resilience, service and responsible procurement. • Supplier assessment and volume allocation use a consistent, transparent and cross-functional decision framework for the agreed categories. The scope can apply to all Nestlé categories. Success measures: Material cost, supplier service, quality performance, allocation cycle time and supply risk. Targets to be confirmed.

Target users and impacted teams

• Supply Chain planning teams • Factory planning-to-produce / Technical teams • Procurement and supplier assessment teams • Management and multiple coordinating teams

Data availability and readiness

Note: Synthetic data could be potentially provided during the process, upon approval of the Nestlé team and in compliance with data law.

Integration, deployment and infrastructure

• To be determined Note: Nestlé's current environment includes Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Copilot. Solutions that can work with this environment are welcome, and final integration and deployment requirements will be confirmed with the Nestlé team.
