Problem statement

Forecast and steer trade spend by activity so no channel runs out mid-year, linking investment to results. Today: • Trade spend is planned on a short horizon and allocated as an annual budget figure across the year. Many schemes run each month, and forecast accuracy is mainly managed over a short horizon today. A longer-horizon, activity-based forecast would help channels stay within plan through the year and ground mid-year funding needs in clear activity plans. • Customer investment is planned, contracted, accrued, liquidated and paid through separate processes and versions. Spend and commercial outcomes are not connected consistently at customer, category and SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) level. Pre- and post-evaluation often happens after the next investment decision has already been made. As a result, spend can be tracked, and there is an opportunity to identify more consistently which investment creates incremental, profitable growth and where the next dollar should go.

Expected outcomes and success metrics

• Help Sales, CDT, Finance and Supply Chain plan and steer trade spend from an activity-based forecast so no channel runs out of budget mid-year – measured by longer-horizon trade spend forecast accuracy and the TTS investment KPI. • A trade spend forecast so Sales manage better as TS grows, channels stay within plan through the year, and mid-year funding needs are clearer for Finance. • Customer investment is one of Sales' biggest growth levers. Connecting each commitment to incremental sales, contribution and strategic outcomes enables Nestlé to fund what works, stop what does not and improve customer-level profitability. • One end-to-end investment view connects plan, contract, accrual, liquidation and payment with P&L by customer, category and SKU. Every material investment has an approved objective, expected ROI and pre/post evaluation; low-return spend is flagged before renewal, and recommendations show where to reallocate investment for the highest incremental growth and contribution.

Target users and impacted teams

• Whole company – mostly F&C (Finance & Control) and Sales • TT, MT, eCommerce, OOH, CDT, Sales Control and Finance • Sales, CDT, Finance and Supply Chain
